Welcome Party

What to expect?

Our Welcome Party will be held from 6:00–10:00 PM, but it is very much an open-house-style gathering—please come and go as you please! We’d love for you to stay all evening, but we also understand that you may want to explore Steamboat and its many wonderful restaurants. We’ll have light bites available, including sliders, quesadillas, salads, and fries, but we recommend making separate dinner plans if you’d like a full meal.

Which Mythology location is this?

Please note there are two (2) locations in Steamboat. This IS NOT the Mythology location at the base of the mountain. It is the one on Elk River Rd.

How do I get to Mythology Distillery?

Feel free to drive your own car or take rideshare services (Uber/Lyft). Unfortunately, the hotel shuttles nor the town bus system runs to Mythology since it is a couple miles out of town.

We will also have a private shuttle service doing pick up's and drop off's at various locations within Steamboat City limits. We will have a phone number to contact once we get closer to wedding.

Wedding Day

What time should I arrive?

Please arrive at the base of the Steamboat Gondola no later than 1:30 PM. We will begin loading guests shortly after, and the ceremony will begin promptly at 2:00 PM.

Where is the ceremony?

Our ceremony will be held on Thunderhead Lawn at the top of the Steamboat Gondola overlooking the Yampa Valley. The gondola ride is part of the experience and is included for all wedding guests.

How long is the gondola ride?

The ride is approximately 10 minutes, followed by a short walk to the ceremony lawn.

Do I need to purchase a gondola ticket?

No! Your gondola ride is included as part of our wedding.

What happens after the ceremony?

We'll enjoy a relaxed mountaintop happy hour with beer, wine, and light refreshments until approximately 3:30

What if I'm late?

Because everyone travels together via gondola, please arrive on time. Once the ceremony begins, it may not be possible to join until afterwards.

Weather & Altitude

What's the weather like in August?

Expect beautiful mountain weather with daytime temperatures typically in the 80s, but evenings can cool into the 40s or 50s. We highly recommend bringing a light jacket.

What if it rains?

Mountain weather changes quickly! We'll be keeping a close eye on conditions and have a weather plan if needed.

How high is the ceremony?

Thunderhead sits at approximately 9,000 feet above sea level. Drink plenty of water, take it easy if you're arriving from lower elevations, and remember that alcohol tends to hit a little faster at altitude.

Attire

What should I wear?

Mountain Cocktail Attire.

Think:

- Dresses, jumpsuits, sport coats, suits, button-downs

- Jackets or wraps for the evening

- Comfortable shoes or block heels recommended

Can I wear high heels?

You certainly can, but remember the ceremony is on grass. Wedges, block heels, or dress shoes are generally more comfortable.

Should I bring sunglasses?

Yes! Afternoon ceremonies in the mountains can be bright.

Transportation

Do I need a rental car?

Not necessarily. If you're staying near downtown or the resort, Steamboat has excellent free public transportation, hotel shuttles, and rideshare availability.

Where should I park for ceremony?

If driving, park at the Steamboat Resort base area. Allow extra time to park and walk to the gondola.

What's the easiest way to get from the ceremony to the reception?

After riding the gondola back to the Steamboat Resort base, simply hop aboard the free Steamboat Springs Transit (SST) Main Line bus. The Main Line provides frequent service between the resort ("the Mountain") and downtown along Lincoln Avenue, with buses running approximately every 15 minutes during the day and about every 20 minutes in the evening. There is no transfer required—it's a direct ride to downtown.

For those staying at The Steamboat Grand you can use their free shuttle service as well, which can be accessed from the circle drive of the hotel.

Should I drive to the reception?

We recommend not driving unless absolutely necessary. Between limited downtown parking, time restrictions, and the fact that we'll be celebrating together, taking the free bus or an Uber/Lyft is by far the easiest and safest option. Plus, you won't have to worry about moving your vehicle before parking time limits expire

Is parking available at the reception?

Downtown Steamboat has very limited public parking, especially on summer weekends. Most public street parking along Lincoln Avenue and the surrounding downtown area is limited to 2- or 3-hour parking, and spaces fill quickly during the evening. If you plan to enjoy cocktails and celebrate with us, we strongly encourage leaving your car at your hotel and using Steamboat's excellent free public bus system or Uber/Lyft instead.
